Not in inflation-adjusted terms. Adjusted for US government reported CPI (CPI-U), the prior high of gold was actually $2,358 in January 1980 in today’s dollars. And based on a measure of CPI that backs out government accounting gimmicks introduced after 1980 (SGS-CPI), the prior high for gold was as high as $7,150 in today’s dollars. [...]
